Alzheimer's Society Activity Groups – Volunteers needed
The Alzheimer's Society run a number of activity groups during the week from 2pm until 4pm that people living with dementia attend along with their carer’s. They are currently looking to recruit volunteers for the following two sessions:
1. Motivational Men’s Group (Held every Tuesday at Southend Conservative Club, 16-20 Clarence Street, Southend-on-Sea SS1 1BD)
An afternoon of activities that may include playing snooker, scrabble, board games etc or just general socialising. Volunteers will be welcoming and talking to people who come along to the group, encouraging participation, helping to prepare refreshments and helping the Group Facilitator with planned activities.
2. Singing for the Brain (Held every Friday at 4 different venues on a rotating basis in Southend, Shoeburyness, Westcliff-on-Sea or Leigh-on-Sea)
An activity group that provides a way for people living with dementia and their carers to express themselves and socialise with others in a fun and supportive environment through singing. Volunteers will be welcoming and talking to those who come along to the group, encouraging participation, helping to make refreshments, and supporting the Group Facilitator in various ways.
Role descriptions for both volunteering roles are available on request.
